Naturopathic Medicine

Look to Nature.

Naturopathic medicine uses everything in nature that can help the body heal itself. In your session, we go through the body as any physician would, but the treatment modalities we use are not pharmaceutical. Instead they are naturally occurring — everything from flowers to acupressure to heat and energy. With naturopathy, we work to uncover root causes and restore balance, rather than just treating symptoms.

Functional
Medicine

Food is medicine.

Your body is an intricate dance among many systems. Functional medicine carefully reviews the working of each system asking two questions: What is this system getting too much of? What is this system getting too little of? Detailed, thorough, and research-based, this approach applies food as the ultimate treatment to enhance your body’s systems and the balance between them. We avoid invasive interventions using nutrition and movement over pills and surgery.

Neuro
Rehab

Movement brings change.

When you move you change your brain. And when you change your brain, you change your thoughts, health, body and life. Neuro Rehab is the training and discipline of how to affect change through movement — body movement, eye movement, etc. — to activate targeted brain pathways, slow the aging process and manifest changes in your body and functioning.

"Healing is just a step. Thriving is the destination."

Hi, I’m Dr. Heidi and I believe everyone deserves to thrive.

I’ve a lifelong passion for the mind-body connection, which I use to unlock each person’s unique ability to achieve optimal wellness and vitality. I’m here to help you thrive!

A naturopathic practitioner, I’m an Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner, board-certified by The American Alternative Medical Association, a Doctor of Pastoral Therapy, a Certified 3X4 Genetics Practitioner, and a Certified Gluten Practitioner. My interest in alternative medicine was heightened during my time as a professional athlete and includes a focus on chronic disease, functional endocrinology, hormone balancing, chronic pain, and athletic performance.

Through a combination of extensive training and innate intuition, I work closely with clients to understand their health history (both physical and emotional) and what natural modalities she can apply to bring their minds and bodies back to their inherently healthy state.

After clients have filled out detailed questionnaires, I engage them in a conversation about their lives and, similar to an investigator, I look for clues about their physical and emotional health, starting the minute a client walks into the office, observing posture, gait, facial symmetry, skin tone, body shape, and more. I may also sense sources of physical or emotional dysfunction through a Korean technique called Sugi, a system of using acupuncture points to feel the body’s pulses through touch.

Oftentimes, what a person tells me on the forms is different than what we uncover once we go over them together. Together, we uncover the source. The body is an amazing machine and it doesn’t go out of whack unless there is a cause. For example, someone may come in with a sensation of asthma and we find it is food sensitivities, or sleep issues that are caused by unresolved trauma or emotional imbalance.

Much of the care I deliver requires clients to make lifestyle changes to take control over issues that are making them sick, such as poor diet or a stressful work situation. I provide support every step of the way, even consulting with clients over online video conferencing if they can’t come to my office.

In lieu of pharmaceuticals, I work with clients to help improve their health through nutritional counseling, supplement support, hormone balancing, laser therapy, and more. I apply whatever combination of protocols each person’s body requires, never pushing them beyond where they’re capable of going at the time.

Many people come to see me feeling like they need to detox. True detox is not an easy path, so we may start with a different approach to prepare the body and mind. Just as we all have a unique fingerprint, so should we approach our health. One diet or protocol does not fit all.

Ultimately, I have faith in the strength of the human spirit and the wonders of the human body. The amazing body we’ve been handed works great if we stay in touch with ourselves and take charge of our own wellness.

Hi!

Say “hi” to a healthy life beyond healing!

"Dr. Heidi figured out my issues after I've been seeing for answers with 5-6 other doctors and various procedures and tests, some fairly invasive and involved . I've been feeling bad for a few years and no doctor has been able tell me why or give me treatment beyond a band-aid approach. I'm the the midst of my treatment and all so far so good. I think anyone and everyone should go here...it's outside the box from traditional medicine and amazing. I'd much rather use "food as medicine" than be loaded io on pharmaceuticals for the rest of my life. Feeling good all the time is a new feeling for me and I am grateful for that and my years ahead.”

A.Scott

I debated on going to Dr Heidi for the better part of two years while I continued to suffer in silence with no direction for healing. Over the years I saw numerous specialists who couldn't provide answers —  they only prescribed medications to treat my symptoms which left me feeling worse. I felt defeated, misunderstood, and was losing hope that I would ever feel better. I was experiencing symptoms of fatigue, histamine intolerance, anxiety, lack of concentration, weight loss, and skin inflammation to name a few.

Deciding to work with Dr. Heidi was the best decision, one I wish I would have made sooner! Both Dr. H and Alicia helped me understand the root cause of my health concerns and provided the tools, education, and encouragement I so desperately needed in order to get better. I felt heard and understood in a way that I never have by other physicians. I truly appreciate Dr. Heidi. She is perceptive and truly cares — and it shows!

Your Brain on Yoga

From the womb through childhood, our brains developed through movement. And movement continues to support and strengthen our brains as adults. While all exercise is good for the brain, yoga is unique in its ability to deeply activate many brain functions — including those that support longevity. This class teaches you the principles of brain development through movement.  It enables you to experience how small changes in how you engage in a movement can drastically change your ease and success with the posture. It also unlocks the ways in which yoga movements support better long-term emotional stability. Movement brought you into this world, movement determines how you function in the world, and movement is a determiner of how you will gracefully exit this life.
